Body Double de Brian De Palma & la chemosphère de John Lautner

La "chemosphere" à  Los Angeles joue un rôle stratégique dans le film de Brian De Palma, Body Double, tourné en 1984. Un petit acteur claustrophobe, trompé par sa maîtresse, se retrouve à la rue et se voit prêter cette maison d'où il observe sa voisine...
Cette maison, sorte de OVNI,  est une création de 1960 de l'architecte américain, John Lautner. Auparavant, elle a aussi été utilisée dans un programme de science-fiction de la chaîne ABC, en 1964 (The Outer Limits: The Duplicate Man). Elle a aussi inspiré les scénaristes des Simpsons pour un épisode de la saison 7.
La chemosphere a eu différents propriétaires, dont un mort poignardé par des cambrioleurs en 1976. Aujourd'hui, elle appartient à l'éditeur allemand Benedikt Taschen, fondateur des éditions Taschen.

The Chemosphere had various owners, including one stabbed to death by burglars in 1976. Today it belongs to the German publisher Benedikt Taschen, founder of Taschen.
